Psyc350 Project Proposal: Variables, RH: & Analyses Name Keeley Warren Note: Any qualitative variable with 3 or more groups must be selected and/or recoded into 2 groups Based from the Interpersonal Relationships Questionaire: Core variable Interpersonal Trust. (Based on a single scale score. Higher score represents a higher level of trust) Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2-groups Variable #1 The type of family in which you were raised Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2-groups Variable #2 Are you currently in a relationship Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2-groups Variable #3 How many times did you move as a child? Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2-groups Variable #4 How many close friends do you currently have? Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2-groups Var#5 bonus Gender Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2- Var#6 bonus How long was your current or last relationship? Months___ Quantitative 2- groups 3+ groups  2-groups RH#1: Relationship between Core variable and Variable #1 Statistic you’ll use 2BG ANOVA 2WG ANOVA r 2×2 X² State RH: (using appropriate terms for the statistic you’ll be using) RH: Participants who are in the two parent group for family type will have the highest interpersonal trust scores; participants who are in the foster group will have the lowest average mean scores on th trust scale; Participants who are in the one parent or step parent groups will have a mean score that is somewhere in between the two parent group and the foster parent group, with the one parent group having a slightly higher mean score on the interpersonal trust scale. Family type is the qualitative variable and the level of interpersonal trust is the quantitative variable. RH#2: Relationship between Core variable and Variable #2 Statistic you’ll use 2BG ANOVA 2WG ANOVA r 2×2 X² State RH: (using appropriate terms for the statistic you’ll be using) RH: Participants who are not currently in a relationship will have an mean score on the interpersonal trust rating that is lower than the mean score of the participants who are currently in a relationship. Relationship status will be the qualitative variable and the core variable of interpersonal trust level will be the qualitative variable. RH#3: Relationship between Core variable and Variable #3 Statistic you’ll use 2BG ANOVA 2WG ANOVA r 2×2 X² State RH: (using appropriate terms for the statistic you’ll be using) RH: There will be a negative linear relationship between the amount of times a participant moved as a child and their score on the interpersonal trust scale; the higher the amount of times a participant moved as a child, the lower the score on the trust scale. Inversely, the lower the number of times a participant moved as a child, the higher their score on the trust scale. Both the amount of times the participant has moved and their score on the trust scale are qualitative variables. RH#4: Relationship between Core variable and Variable #4 Statistic you’ll use 2BG ANOVA 2WG ANOVA r 2×2 X² State RH: (using appropriate terms for the statistic you’ll be using) RH: There will be a positive linear relationship between the number of close friends a participant reports having and their rating on the interpersonal trust scale. As the number of friends increases, a quantitative variable, the score on the interpersonal trust scale will increase, also a quantitative variable. RH#5: Relationship between Core variable and Variable #5 (bonus) Statistic you’ll use 2BG ANOVA 2WG ANOVA r 2×2 X² State RH: (using appropriate terms for the statistic you’ll be using) RH: Females will have a higher mean trust score than males; where gender is the qualitative variable and trust level is the quantitative variable. RH#6: Relationship between Core variable and Variable #6 (bonus) Statistic you’ll use 2BG ANOVA 2WG ANOVA r 2×2 X² State RH: (using appropriate terms for the statistic you’ll be using) RH: There will be a positive linear correlation between the length of time a participant has spent in a relationship, quantitative, and their score on the interpersonal relationships scale, also quantitative. The longer the relationship the higher the trust level of the participant.
