My Educational Journey through High School When you start high school you are one step closer to getting your diploma and entering the real world to make something of yourself. As a child we start off at an early age when it comes to getting our education. Most people would say school is a place where you make friends and have fun and for others your there to learn something. As for me I fall in the category with many others who want to learn something new and make friends too. One aspect of my educational career would be my journey through high school, and how each year made me become a better person. When starting my freshman year I was pretty excited, based on the fact that it was my first year of high school. The counselor’s told us in the beginning that our first two years of school were the most important because that’s when you start to build your GPA. For me on the other hand I didn’t really pay attention to my GPA because I felt it was no need to, it was only my first year. The teachers I had were very nice and were basically there to collect a paycheck, but my English teacher Ms. Harhia who was the one I looked up to the most and who I respected. I had a very bad English class so all she did was yell and scream, but she still taught her lesson for the day and everyone understood. She always would tell the class that “ you can do all things if you put your mind to it and try striving for the best”. Through my sophomore year I became more alert on things and started to get my act together when it came to my grades. History was one of my favorite subjects during that year because I had the best teacher named Mr. Lewis. He made history seem so interesting and you would have thought that he was living back then. I became involved in organizations like the Spanish club. I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into at the time, but in the end I learned a few things and also was taught how to dance to Mexican music. I also got involved with the Future Business Leaders of America which was also a good learning experience. It taught me a lot of things when it comes down to starting a business and if you ever want to own your own company someday you have to run it the right way. We accomplished a lot of things during that year by helping the less fortunate, and hosting charity events which made a difference in other’s lives. I was even elected treasurer that year which made me really get on top of things because I had a duty that I had to fulfill and I had make sure that I was doing my job. Soon as junior year started I knew my journey through high school was almost complete. Over the last two years I became more mature and I knew what I wanted to do in life. This year was very productive and I had a lot of great influences. Music was the main influence and it was something that I couldn’t live without. I joined the school choir that year and that was something I wanted to do since freshman year. Mr. G who was a man of great integrity taught me the basics of what I needed to know about music. Even though I have been singing all my life he was only person who made me push myself more and helped me extend my vocal abilities. To this day I still thank him for being a part of my life and how he was a major influence in it. Finally senior year arrives and I know my journey is finally complete. I realized that my hard work had finally paid off and I knew in June that I was going to be walking across that stage and receiving my high school diploma. What I learned during the course of my high school career still hasn’t left me yet. Over those four years, it has taught me to be a better person and I can be anything I want to be if I put my mind to it. The journey is finally over and now I can finally move on to big and better things. .
