There are some qualities and attributes that I find particularly relevant and beneficial to my line of career and profession. It is crucial that a human being realizes and gauges with utmost precision the kind of things that bring the very best of them. It is why the strengths finder is a crucial tool to enable one to understand and fully know the weaknesses and strengths thus allow a person to adjust accordingly (Ferguson, 1997). It is imperative for me as an individual to focus a lot of attention and strengths the strong qualities, and seek for ways on how I could better them rather than whining and complaining about the weaknesses that I may possess. For the purpose of this essay, I will discuss some of the strengths that I believed are embedded within me.
Firstly, it is safe that I assert that I am one person who enjoys intellectual discussions and topic. And that is why at most times, I stake a lot of my time reading and discoursing on the material that I read. This is particular especially from my past, when I was assigned a leadership role and duty-because in most instances, whenever I did communicate or pass across a message, I used a lot of analogies. I would relate three of more concepts relative to what I was discussing with a concept or a notion that I had read about, in the course of my reading. I was also particularly attracted to people especially from a group who engaged in academic discourses pertaining current issues.
Secondly, as a unit leader, I was tasked with the mandate of being assigning roles to the unit members. Thus, it was only reasonable that I understood the qualities and strengths of each and every member of the unit. Whenever there was a task to be completed, I would assign those roles to the people relative to their individual strengths but for the benefit of the whole group. For instance, there are people who are comfortable with the fact of talking in front of a crowd, while others may be more valuable by just preparing ideas for the speaker. It goes without saying that it is virtually impossible for all the people in the society to possess similar skills and strengths. Rather, all of those unique strengths ought to be combined for the benefit of the group goal. Retrospectively, I am a skilled individual in the theme of individualization, and that is why I learnt to combine the best of individual strengths of the unit members for the good of the group.
Subsequently, I also enjoy and pertain in the theme of a learner, whereby the aspect and sense of learning new things excite me (Gallup, 2013, p. 4). For instance, the very aspect and fact of learning about being a group leader was quite an experience. It was rewarding and in some way satisfactory that I could enjoy the fact of being able to delineate roles to the other group members and also answer on behalf of the group. As much as there were challenges, I enjoyed the aspect of being able to lead and learn from the others.
On a similar line of thought and reasoning, I am also talented in the theme of input because in most cases I desired to learn more not only from the unit but all aspects in the society. I suppose this is the reason I do a lot of reading so that I may expand my pool and wealth of knowledge.
I am also an activator because I have the skill of turning dreams and thoughts into reality and practice. It was evident when I was the leader of the group whereby whenever as a unit we had decided to on an action plan; I found it easy to implement the thoughts into practical actions. Even if I did not manage to implement the whole plan that we had thought about, I had the impetus and imperative to turn the little plans into reality and actual practice.
Summarily, I learnt that being a leader was a rewarding and fulfilling challenge that required me to integrate and incorporate all the talents outlined above for the growth and the good of the unit. This is to say that all the ideas discussed are brought to fruition, while considering the individual contribution of people and their natural talents in the overall input that the unit did put forth.
